John Charles Macpherson's
NEW ART FOR THE 21st CENTURY
August 2010

It seems everything I have ever done in the last three decades have led me to making digital abstract art.  I have a MS in Aerospace Engineering and worked in that field for twenty years.  Then I finally decided what I wanted to be when I grew up and I went back to school and earned a BA in the visual arts.  For the next twenty years I worked in that field mostly blowing glass and producing oil and acrylic paintings.  Now, I have trashed the blow pipes and the brushes in favor of the computer.

Anyone can take a photograph, anyone can cover a canvas with paint and anyone can make images using the computer.  Some people actually use those tools to produce art.  A very, very few actually produce great art.  Of course, all of us think we are in the last category.  If we didn't think that, we would probably spend our time either making money or playing golf.
